Carol has always been energized by creativity. Design fine arts cultures textiles making her own art storytelling and eventually even typography. She chose graphic design as her medium to embrace all these things and became a top designer /art director at one of the leading advertising agencies in the world. \ \ Carol next founded and built her Graphic Design business with her primary client National Geographic. She developed and designed award winning monthly advertorial/editorial features in their national and worldwide magazine editions for blue chip clients. It was her dream job of all things creative for 18 years. \ \ Carol began painting in oil while managing her business. In 2016 she decided to focus on painting devoting her time to classes and workshops. She entered into Plein Air Competitions and won awards. She has been juried into numerous shows and galleries winning ribbons throughout Maryland and collected by buyers. Carol is known for her bold colorful richly textured paintings. Her creative process remains the same— painting a story sparked by an idea or concept. She sticks to her life long professional motto: keep it simple.\ \ Living in the DC metropolitan area most of her life Carol now lives in Annapolis on Whitehall Creek with her husband and Golden Retriever.\ \ ARTIST STATEMENT\ I like to paint to express the way I see and feel about a subject or see something that sparks an idea. I sometimes get an initial glimpse of a finished painting in my imagination and I go for that. I often paint a story going on in my head that evolves from a scene. From my long career as a professional designer I believe a good design is the bones of a good painting. \ \
